Resilient Design is led by Sunshine Coast–based designer Rob Milsted, with over 25 years of experience designing high-performance custom homes rooted in durability, efficiency, and long-term livability.

His practice began in 1998 with a Japanese-inspired post-and-beam cabin and has since grown to include hundreds of custom residential projects across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding islands. Each project is shaped by a deep understanding of coastal climate, material performance, and how homes are actually built.

What distinguishes Rob’s work is hands-on experience. Beyond design, he has personally built, framed, roofed, wired, and finished many of the homes featured on this site. This practical knowledge informs clear detailing, buildable solutions, and homes that perform as intended—on site and over time.

Design at Resilient Design integrates building science, sustainability, and architectural clarity. Homes are carefully oriented, thoughtfully detailed, and designed to meet or exceed BC Energy Step Code requirements, with many projects targeting Step Code 5 or Net Zero Ready performance.

Clients work directly with the designer from first conversation through construction—ensuring a collaborative, informed process and homes that are resilient, efficient, and enduring.
