It started in 1998 with a Japanese-inspired post and beam cabin
—the first RDM Design project. Since then, I've designed hundreds of custom homes and structures across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding islands each one built around efficiency, flexibility, and longevity.
My approach goes beyond the drawing board. I've personally designed, built, roofed, wired, and finished many of the custom residences featured on this site. This hands-on experience gives me an exceptional understanding of how buildings actually come together—and how they perform over time.
Growing up here, the Sunshine Coast shaped everything. Nature was my classroom. By my mid-20s, I'd backpacked solo through 22 countries, which deepened my respect for how people live, how resources move, and how thoughtful design can honor both place and time. Those experiences fuel every project I take on.
I'm equally passionate about health, building science, and how we inhabit our spaces. Good design reflects its source—it comes from observation, perspective, and philosophy. When those elements align, function, performance, and beauty become inseparable.
